Course Overview
Psychology 2 continues the study of the “inner man” with an emphasis on college preparation. This course will help you understand yourself and others better as well as encourage a healthy mental and physical lifestyle. Emphasis will also be placed on gaining a college-like experience and forming good study skills that will set you on the path for success!
This course will cover a variety of topics in psychology including motivation, personality theories, psychological disorders, and social psychology – some of my personal favorite subjects in psychology! Throughout the course, you will be responsible for several individual and group research projects, short presentations, mini-experiments, classroom discussions, mini-papers, self-assessments and self-reflections, a few small quizzes, a few tests, work portfolios, and one final culminating project and paper.
This course is a hybrid course, which means that half of the time will be face-to-face like traditional classes and the other half will be interactive and online. It will be your responsibility to read the textbook and complete the tasks as indicated in class and on this web site. Much of this course is project based and your specific interests will be governed by you and approved by me. Your projects will require you to utilize technology including, but not limited to, videotaping, YouTube, podcast, design, electronic portfolio, etc. Read over the syllabus through the page describing what the hybrid course is all about to see if you are a good fit for this course model.
